Information of the event
This new edition of the Conference takes place in the context of a particular world situation of important and dizzying changes affecting global economy, which forces the meat chain to re-position itself. The most relevant changes supporting the agenda of this new Conference edition are:
- the intense competition for land among cattle raising, agriculture, dairy, and forestry, which is influencing productive and economic changes that may have social and environmental effects;
- the establishment in Uruguay of major companies with strong negotiating power that try to consolidate their strategic export position through mergers, alliances and transboundary purchases;
- stronger consumer fears of diseases transmitted by food, which make requirements regarding food safety be more and more demanding;
- the constant need to analyze the competitiveness of each chain in terms of value losses and the imperative search for the recovery of such losses;
- a quickly developing pattern of food consumption around the world, which raises the need for a constant evaluation of said pattern in order to better place meat products in high-value markets;
- and last, the also constant and endless growth and development of all those information and communication technologies that foster greater competitiveness in agro-business.
